Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival. Kampala city expedition
Early arrival at Entebbe Airport Uganda and meet your driver guide. Transfer to Kampala after briefing and enjoy the Kampala city tour. This takes you to different attractions in Kampala capital city that range from historical, cultural to religious sites including Kasubi Tomb Site, Kabaka’s Palace, Uganda Museum, Bahai Temple, Gadhafi Mosque and others. Get to your hotel to retire for the night afterwards.
Day 2: Transfer Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, vacate Kampala capital city for Murchison Falls National Park to the Northwestern circuit of Uganda. This is a road trip covering up to about 5 hours and you cover towns like Luweero-Masindi then access the park.
In Masindi, a stopover be made mainly for lunch and then you proceed to the top of the Murchison Falls, one of the powerful waterfalls on the planet earth. Enjoy the thunderous roar of the falls as it forces itself into 8m narrow gorge prior falling 43m down forming devil’s cauldron and permanent rainbow.
Day 3: Game drive experience & boat trip
Rise up early for breakfast and after, explore the northern sector of Murchison Falls on a game drive experience lasting 3-4 hours. On a game drive your possible sights will be on special creatures such as leopards, Cape buffaloes, Rothschild giraffes, hartebeests, elephants, warthogs, birds, lions and others.
Return to have the best of your lunch and later, report to Paraa for an afternoon launch tour along the Nile heading towards the bottom of the falls. The amazing sights here range from the Nile crocodiles, hippos, waterbirds and these are enjoyable for 3 hours.
Day 4: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park
Breakfast early and set off for yet another special wildlife experience in Kibale Forest National Park, Western Uganda. This is located about 7-8 hours’ drive from Murchison Falls National Park but you won’t be bored on your road trip.
You shouldn’t miss to view the breathtaking landscapes, escarpments of the Albertine rift valley and get to a hotel in Fort Portal for lunch. Go check into the lodge in/around Kibale N.P afterwards.
Day 5: Chimp trekking & Bigodi Swamp walk experience
Following your early breakfast, vacate the room and go gather at Kanyanchu Visitor Centre. Get briefed on guidelines for chimpanzee tracking before commencing your search at 8:00am with the park guide. This is an amazing primate walk experience taking you 2-4 hours inclusive of 1 hour to observe, take photos, learning more on how the chimpanzees behave.
You also have a chance to enjoy other possible sights of other primates, birds, mammals, butterflies, flora and a lot more. Walk back from the jungles to have lunch and head to Bigodi for swamp guided nature walk. Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary will reward you with astonishing sights of birds like The Rwenzori Turacos, mammals like Sitatungas, primates and others.
Day 6: Crater Lake hikes & Amabere caves expedition
Enjoy your cup of tea/coffee and after, leave Kibale for a Crater Lake and Amabere caves walk. Drive via Fort Portal Tourism City and your expedition starts with touring Amabere Caves to have in-depth cultural and historical importance they hold. After, head to start your hike to Crater Lakes with a chance to explore the Kyegegwa hill that offers astonishing view of different crater lakes in the surrounding areas plus the Rwenzori Mountain ranges.
Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park in Western Uganda
Have breakfast and after, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park about 3-4 hours from Kibale. On early arrival, have lunch at the lodge and then go explore the Salt Lake, learn more about salt extraction process.
Day 8: Game drive & boat tour
A cup of tea/coffee early morning and after, a game drive in the Kasenyi Savanna Plains to see various wildlife. For over 3 hours in your pop-up roof Landcruiser or Safari Van/Super Custom, the possible sights to expect range from elephants, leopards, lions, buffaloes, antelopes, birds, warthogs, hyenas.
Lunch and relaxation be done afterwards then go yet another 2-3 hours on boat safari on 45m Kazinga channel stretch that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. It is picturesque experience offering a clear view of hippos, crocodiles, aquatic birds and a lot more.
Day 9: Game experience in Ishasha sector & drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Breakfast early morning and after, leave the lodge for a short game drive around Ishasha sector in the south to enjoy view of tree climbing lions. Later, proceed to Bwindi about 4-5 hours’ drive from Mweya and lunch be provided in Savanna Resort before checking into the lodge in Bwindi.
Day 10: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Have breakfast and immediately leave for briefing at Bwindi head offices in Buhoma sector. After, begin a search for mountain gorillas with a guide for about 2 to 6 hours which also include an hour of learning how they socialize, mate, feed, groom and photography. Return to relax and later, be part of Batwa cultural experience unforgettable cultural experience.
Day 11: Departure
Depart Bwindi after breakfast for about 9 hours’ drive and you will have en-route stop at Igongo for lunch and at Kayabwe to take photos at Equator crossing. Continue to Kampala or be dropped in Entebbe airport.
