Detailed 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Volcanoes National park
Arrive at Kigali International Airport and meet up with your private safari driver for a briefing and drive to Volcanoes National Park. Transverse through the stunning countryside and immerse yourself into Rwanda’s serene Mother Nature.
The journey takes about 3 hours and allows you reach the lush rainforest on-time for meals and overnight stay.
Day 2: Trekking one of the habituated gorilla Groups in the jungles of Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast, drive or move to Kinigi Park Headquarters for registration as well as gorilla briefing. Before entering into the densely forested jungles, comfortable hiking boots, long sleeved shirt/long pants, walking stick, packed lunch and drinking water is a must-have for every trekker.
Trekking time is unpredictable but varies from half an hour to 4 hours before the magical one hour with the habituated group of these Giant Apes. The exact location of the allocated gorilla group largely depends on the availability of food, temperature/weather, movement and feeding range during the previous day. The guidelines provided during briefing have to apply when trekking or being in the presence of the mountain gorillas. Spend the allocated one hour to watch and observe their amazing daily routine of playing with young ones, foraging and mating then retire to your lodge for lunch.
Depending on the time the gorilla trekking experience ends, you will head for a visit to the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for unbeaten cultural experience. Later in the evening retire for dinner and overnight stay at the booked lodge.
Day 3: Transfer back to the City of Kigali
After an early delicious breakfast, check-out of the Lodge for a journey back to the City of Kigali. Take a short City Tour on arrival with places to be visited being the Craft market to shop for handcrafts and souvenirs from East and Central Africa, Kigali Genocide Memorial Site and the National Museum.
