Detailed 4 Days Nyungwe Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Expedition to Nyungwe Forest, Rwanda
A warm welcome from your experienced travel guide upon early arrival at Kigali Airport Rwanda/after breakfast at the hotel in Kigali. Get insight about your chimpanzee safari to Nyungwe Forest National Park and then drive to Nyungwe about 5 to 6 hours’ drive.
En-route stopover expected to be made at Nyanza to visit the King’s Palace and ethnographic Museum in Butare. After, lunch will follow before you get to check into your lodge in Nyungwe Forest.
Day 2: Nyungwe Chimp Trekking & Canopy walk
A tasty cup of tea/coffee early and later, gather at Uwinka trail to be briefed on guidelines for chimp trekking. A walk to encounter chimpanzees begins at 8:00am with a park guide and expect to spend from 2 to 4 hours in the jungles. Once you come across chimps, there is only 1 hour designated for you to enjoy a close encounter then you walk back to have lunch.
In the afternoon, you have about 2-3 hours to spend while on a canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest Rwanda. This is provided along Igishigishigi trail taking you on a 200m suspended bridge long and 60m from the ground. Entirely, your experience includes sighting the park’s unique primates, colorful butterflies, birds.
Day 3: Day walk in Gisakura & visit Kitabi Village around Nyungwe
Breakfast and after, go appreciate tea farming practice in Rwanda on your visit to Gisakura Tea Estates. This will be during the day walk that takes you towards Lake Kivu and along the way, make a stop visit at Kitabi Village or Banda Community. Learn all the process tea undergoes till the last stage when it is ready to be consumed. Thereafter, get back to have the rest of time relaxing, reflecting and sharing your experiences in Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Day 4: Get back to Kigali for city expedition
Enjoy your breakfast and check out of your room. Leave for Kigali 6 hours’ drive and arrive early to take part in the city expedition that will take you through Rwanda genocide of 1994 at Gisozi genocide museum; visit Craft Shops or explore other cultural/historical sites plus local markets.
