Detailed 6 Days Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
In the morning, you will be picked from any location in Kampala and continue to Fort Portal City. This tourism city boasts of wide range of interesting sites and on this journey, traverse the verdant countryside along the Mityana-Mubende Road, lush Tea Estates at Mpanga and open swamp valleys. Break the journey in Fort Portal City for lunch then be driven to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest National Park & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast move to Kanyanchu Visitor Center, a walking distance from your accommodation facility for registration and briefing. Kibale Forest is nestled within the shadows of the Rwenzori Mountains and is popular for sheltering over 13 species of primates including chimpanzees that will be tracked during this safari.
Trekking chimpanzees, mankind’s closest relatives is a breathtaking experience because watching them feed, play, nurse their young ones, copulate and groom each other means seeing ourselves in their eyes. Along the way meet other primate species such as olive baboons. L’Hoests monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and olive baboons in addition to numerous bird species. When sighted, you will spend one hour in their midst and return back to your lodge for lunch.
After your lovely lunch, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Kasese Town where you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains on a clear day.
Day 3: Wildlife Viewing in Queen Elizabeth
Breakfast and be driven through the vast savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park, marked by numerous wildlife species such as Elephants, Olive baboons, Topis, Cape buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, Lions, spotted hyenas, Jackson’s hartebeests, Leopards, warthogs, Defassa waterbucks, Mongoose and many others. Take a break from the game drive to have Lunch at the booked Lodge.
After a hefty lunch, Kazinga Channel is where your next wildlife viewing experience will be based. This channel connects Lakes Edward and George, and offer opportunities of seeing one of the highest concentrations of Hippos and Nile crocodiles plus elephants, sitatunga, Uganda Kobs and Cape buffaloes drinking or bathing from the shoreline. Overnight stay, refreshment and dinner at the booked Lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha sector
Early in the morning be served breakfast and checkout of the Lodge. Later embark on a game drive to catch-up with more of this Park’s wildlife species. Exit this Park through Ishasha sector where you make a stop to watch the tree climbing lions, Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks, Cape buffaloes and many others.
Continue for Lunch at Savannah Resort, Kihihi and to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered Mountain gorillas. There are also about 400 mountain gorillas within the unfenced boundaries of Bwindi and over 20 habituated groups can be trekked.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Head to the Park Headquarters for briefing after your breakfast at the Lodge. Start the trek for mountain gorillas in the company of armed ranger guides, porters and other visitors allocated to trek the same gorilla group. Make sure to carry your passport and gorilla permit to the briefing point for registration in addition to enough drinking water, walking stick and a backpack for carrying everything you need during the trek.
Spend one hour watching the Great Apes going about their daily activities. Unforgettable moments including mothers nursing their young ones, silverbacks playing with infants or the juveniles entertaining visitors. Get back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation then in the evening be entertained under the stars by one of the local dance groups.
Day 6: Back to Entebbe & Departure
Breakfast and depart for Kampala City with more views of the Kigezi highlands, Lunch en-route and arrive in the city late evening. Your private safari driver will drop you off at the airport in Entebbe or hotel in Kampala. This marks the end of this 6 days Gorilla Circuit safari.
