Detailed Gorilla Trekking & Masai Mara Wildlife Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Pickup and a drive to Volcanoes National Park
Start your adventure with the eye-catching views of Rwanda’s rolling hills and vegetation, at the beautiful Kigali international airport. You will then be briefed by our expert driver-guide, before a drive to Volcanoes National Park – 2 hour drive, through rolling hills, lush vegetation and many more. You will have lunch in the city, and then dinner and a nap at the lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Cultural encounter
Very early in the morning, you will greet your intestines with a yummy breakfast meal, and then transfer to the park headquarters for document verification, allocation to a gorilla group, and trekking dos and don’ts from the park rangers. Gorillas move each night, and so tracking the, lasts for approximately 1-6 hours, through the place they were last seen.
Also the park rangers will give you an additional one hour to watch the apes play, feed, sing, and interact, before having a lunch break. One hour is for refreshment, followed by a visit to the nearby community to learn of their way of life, and enjoying the dances, and drama.
Day 3: Fly to Nairobi, Kenya
At daybreak, breakfast comes first, followed by an epic drive to the Kigali international airport for a flight to Nairobi Kenya; one of the busiest and safest cities in East Africa. While at Jomo Kenyatta airport, you will meet our representative, have a briefing, and then drive to your hotel for a dinner meal and overnight. End this day with a dinner meal and a nap.
Day 4: From Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
On this day, you will have a relaxed breakfast meal at your hotel, and then checkout for a transfer to Masai national park; Kenya’s most famous tourist destination, with a variety of flora and fauna. A drive to the park lasts for approximately 6 hours; with an en-route stopover at the magnificent Great Rift Valley for photography and the other at Narok trading center for lunch.
Thereafter, a two-hour drive to the park, on marram road, but with amazing sceneries, plantations and homesteads. You will have a welcome to the park, with animals parading in a close range, while the drive proceeds to the park for check-in, dinner and a nap.
Day 5: Full-day game drive
Today starts with an early morning game drive to catch up with the night hunters and morning risers in the field. A mention of the residents you can chance to encounter in the entire day include; lions, cheetah, impalas, zebras, giraffes, zebras, elephants, buffalos, warthogs, hyenas, wildebeest, and rhinoceros among others; birds such as the flamingos; unique plant species, and many more.
You will have a bush breakfast and a picnic lunch. Thereafter, there will be an evening spent on the shores of the Mara River; home to a school of hippos, crocodiles, and aquatic birds among others. Late in the evening, there will be a sunset game drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Birding and Maasai Cultural encounter
At daybreak, you will have an excellent sunrise view, followed by a hefty cup of coffee. Thereafter, you will head for a remarkable half-day bird watching experience as you look out for the flamingos, ostriches, Turacos, sunbirds, lovebirds, and egrets among others. There will be an experienced birder to take you through this entire adventure, explain their sound, and uniqueness.
Bird watching gives you a chance not only to explore the bird world but also their habitats and encountering several other residents accompanying them. Afterward, return to the lodge for lunch, followed by an evening of endless fun, dance, music, and drama with the famous Maasai warriors. Dinner and a nap mark closure of today’s program.
Day 7: Departure
After having a thrilling experience the previous day, this day starts with a yummy breakfast meal, and then check out of the lodge for a drive back to Nairobi for your flight or to the lodge.
