Detailed Volcanoes Gorilla Trekking & Serengeti Wildlife Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Arusha to Serengeti National Park
On this day you will be picked up from any location in Arusha for a drive to Serengeti National Park. First be briefed on the safari before embarking on the 7-8 hours’ journey with en-route stops for Lunch and on arrival at the Park have a short game drive while heading to your booked place of stay.
Some of the animals to expect during this mini game drive are cheetahs, lions, serval cats, elephants, wildebeests, Masai giraffes, spotted hyenas, Defassa waterbucks, Cape buffaloes, leopards, common elands, Topis, zebras, gazelles and many others. Check-in at the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: All day Serengeti National Park Game drive
Breakfast and drive through the wildlife-rich areas of Serengeti National Park where a wide range of wildlife species-Big five, antelopes and even bird species will be spotted. Take a break between game drives to have lunch and relax, then in the evening retire to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Connect to Ngorongoro Crater for another game drive
After a wonderful breakfast, connect to the popular Ngorongoro Conservation Area, another excellent safari destination in Tanzania. Make sure to leave Serengeti with packed Lunch which you will enjoy on getting at this Conservation Area, before undertaking the game drive.
The Caldera here draws all kinds of wildlife species, ranging from antelopes-Topis, common elands, Defassa waterbucks, Oribis, hartebeests, Kobs, big cats-lions, cheetahs, leopards and many others. Expect also to encounter numerous bird species and in the afternoon visit the neighboring Masai villages for unrivalled cultural experience. After this interesting wildlife and cultural tour, connect to your place of stay for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Game Drive in Tarangire National Park and return to Arusha
After breakfast, continue to Tarangire National Park for a half day excursion. The total driving time from Ngorongoro Crater to Tarangire National Park is 2-3 hours and involves arriving with a game drive. Expect to see Burchell’s zebras, Bush elephants, Rothschild giraffes, lions and Hippos. Enjoy your packed Lunch and begin your transfer journey to Arusha Town for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Flight to Kigali International Airport and drive to Volcanoes National Park
Be up early for breakfast at your place of stay in Arusha Town and depending on the flight time connect to the Airport for your departure flight. On arrival at the Airport of Kigali, embark on the journey to Volcanoes National Park in north-western Rwanda.
Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Be up early for breakfast and continue to Kinigi Park Headquarters for registration and briefing before allocation to a habituated gorilla group. At 8am head into the densely forested and misty slopes of the Virunga Mountains for your breathtaking gorilla trekking experience.
A search for the mountain gorillas takes between half an hour to 5 hours depending on the location of the mountain gorillas and on finding them, you are allowed one hour to watch and take photographs after which leave the forest. Meet your safari driver at the Park Headquarters for a drive back to the Lodge for Lunch. In the afternoon head for a tour around the Gorilla Guardian Village for Rwandan cultural experience.
Day 7: Drive back to Kigali city and departure
Have breakfast and return back to Kigali City for drop-off at the Airport or Hotel. This marks the end of our 7 days Rwanda Gorillas and Serengeti Wildlife Tour.
