Detailed 8 Days Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe International Airport

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, finalize immigration clearances (including acquiring Visa and presenting Yellow-fever Certificate) and meet your private safari driver for Hotel transfers. You will spend overnight stay in any of the top budget, mid-range or Luxury Hotels in Kampala.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Breakfast at the Hotel in Kampala, your private safari driver will brief you on the 8 days Super Primates & Wildlife Safari then embark on the transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. This 5-6 hours’ journey will be marked by two en-route stops-first at Mubende for the hike to Mubende Hill to see the 600-year old tree that offers blessings and another stop at Fort Portal Town for delicious Lunch. On arrival at Kibale Forest National Park, you will be checked-in at a Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and trek to the top of Nyakasura Hills

Breakfast then drive to Kanyanchu Visitor Center for registration and briefing about the thrilling Chimpanzee trekking adventure in Kibale Forest National Park. Later join the Park rangers, porters and other trekkers to find one of the habituated chimpanzee troops in the forest. You will take 1-3 hours trekking for these mankind’s closest relatives and take another one hour observing, taking photos and recording videos of these creatures living their best lives.

Later return to the Lodge for Lunch and take on the daunting Nyakasura Hills standing at 1657 meters above sea level. You will need to be physically fit for this hike and start slowly but when finally at the top, you will enjoy views of the Crater Lakes, lush hillside and encounter different bird species. Later retire to your place of stay for overnight stay, dinner and refreshment.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, be driven to the Bigodi wetland Sanctuary for a guided walk to see one of the primate species as well as outstanding bird species such as Papyrus gonolek, Collared Apalis, Great blue Turaco, African Pitta and crowned eagles in the wetland Sanctuary.

Return for lunch then leave for Queen Elizabeth National Park and be welcomed by a variety of savannah wildlife species.

Day 5: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel

Be served an early breakfast before embarking on a game drive through Kasenyi area of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This Area boasts of the highest concentration of wildlife species ranging from the Uganda Kobs, Topis, Defassa waterbucks, warthogs to the big cats-leopards, serval cats, lions to the giants-elephants, Hippos and buffaloes. These and more will be encountered during the game drive through the Northern sector. Also drive around the Crater Lakes before taking a break to have Lunch.

Lunch then continue for the boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. During this activity, you will be amazed by the high concentration of Hippos and Nile crocodiles as well as wetland, woodland and savannah bird species. Surprisingly, over 100 species can be encountered during this 2 hours’ boat cruise alone. This boat cruise is the highlight of Queen Elizabeth National Park tours and with memories of this activity still fresh return to your Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha

In the morning after breakfast leave Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive southwards to Ishasha sector, where you will be treated to the rare view of lions that climb trees. Enjoy the breathtaking sceneries and en-route Lunch at Savannah Resort. The drive from Ishasha to Bwindi takes 3-4 hours, hence you will arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Breakfast and drive to the Park Headquarters for briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines then be assigned a gorilla group. Escorted by armed Ranger guides, start the search for the gorilla group which will last 1-5 hours. The time spent searching for the mountain gorillas largely depends on the availability of food in their habitat, where they nested the previous day and weather. However, you will spend one hour to take photographs, record videos and watch their heart-warming behavior.

In the evening visit the Batwa pygmies at the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to listen to sorrowful tales of the forest, be astonished by how they make fire by rubbing sticks and many others. After this marvelous cultural encounter, return back to the Lodge for dinner under the stars then later overnight stay.

Day 8: Drive back to Entebbe for Airport or Hotel drop-off

Enjoy breakfast and drive back to Kampala, for drop-off at a Hotel or transfer to Entebbe International Airport. This marks the end of the 8 days Super primates & Wildlife Safari.
